Variable data printing in Mono and digital output:
Variable data also known as variable information printing is a form in which elements such as text, graphics and images may be changed from one printed piece to the next, without stopping or slowing down the printing process, using information from a database or external file. For example, a set of personalized letters, each with the same basic layout, can be printed with a different name and address on each letter. Variable data printing is mainly used for direct marketing, customer relationship management, advertising, billing, invoicing, and applying addressing on self-mailers, brochures or postcard campaigns.
This technology today is revolutionising the way Corporates address their special clients. The difference between variable data printing and traditional printing is the personalization that is involved which allows a company to relate, communicate, and possibly start a relationship with a prospective customer and to maintain a relationship with their current customers.
In today’s world, variable data printing is more than a variable name or address in a printed piece. The personalization done has to reflect what the customer values. For example, if a customer who loves soccer receives a postcard with an image of their favourite soccer player, it is more likely to draw their attention rather than sending an image of a baseball player with the same matter.
